Ce texte retrace l’histoire et les méthodes de la recherche en littérature orale menée à l’IFAN (Institut Fondamental d’Afrique Noire). Il montre comment les chercheurs ont collecté, transcrit et traduit contes, épopées, mythes et chants en langues africaines.
